Strong Cyclone Helen has hit the southeastern part of the United States. The death toll from the cyclone has risen to 50 so far. In a report on Sunday (September 29), the country's media, CNN News, reported this information.
According to reports, at least 59 people have died due to 'Helen' in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia.
Saturday evening local time, a statement from Governor Roy Cooper's office said at least 10 people had died in North Carolina. Meanwhile, at least 20 people have died in South Carolina, including two Saluda County firefighters.
In Georgia, at least 17 people died in the tornado in the Alamo, according to a spokesman for Gov. Brian Kemp. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the death toll rose to 11 as of Saturday morning local time.
Due to the powerful cyclone, financial institutions have said that billions of dollars in losses could be incurred. A large number of houses and businesses have been destroyed in several states due to this cyclone.
