Yesterday, Iran admitted to firing dozens of ballistic missiles at important military and security targets in Israel. During the attack, warning sirens were seen ringing in various cities across the country. Israelis were seen running around in search of safe shelter.
Local time on Tuesday (Oct 1), Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it fired missiles into Israel in response to indiscriminate Israeli attacks on people in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the killings of top IRGC, Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.
However, Ali Vaiz, Iran Project Director of the International Crisis Group, has glimpsed another danger in this attack. He expressed concern that there was a "serious risk" of an Israeli strike targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
He added that this fear is exacerbated by the shaky state of Hezbollah, Iran's defensive shield. Also, US forces are already protecting Israel in the region. Basically, this is why it is a big threat to Israel.
"Even if Iran tries to resolve this attack diplomatically, Israel will not be satisfied with that. So I think there is a real risk of an attack on a nuclear facility', Ali Vaiz expressed concern.
In addition, the United States and Israel will want to use this attack as a shield to erase forever the reason that Iran, as a nuclear power in the Middle East, was a cause for concern for the West.
