| Russian helicopter with 22 passengers missing |
A helicopter with three crew members and 19 passengers has gone missing in Russia's eastern peninsula of Kamchatka. The Ministry of Emergencies of the country reported the information on Saturday (August 31). News, BBC.
The MI-8 helicopter took off from a base near the Vachkajetas volcano on Saturday, the report said. Crews were supposed to report at 4pm local time but did not. Search and rescue operations are reportedly being hampered due to thick fog in the area.
Note that Kamchatka, which is nine hours ahead of Moscow in time, is a popular tourist destination. The region is known for its pristine river forms, warm climate and volcanoes. Many travelers go there for vacations and sightseeing.
