The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to organize a new tournament for girls in age group cricket. Women's U-19 T20 Asia Cup will be held every two years from now.
This decision was taken at the ACC board meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (September 12). The decision to hold this tournament has been made to provide a platform for the Asian teams to test themselves before the Women's U-19 T20 World Cup.
In this regard, Jai Shah said, this is an important day for cricket in Asia. The decision to host the Women's U-19 Asia Cup is a milestone. It is a very useful platform for the emerging and talented women cricketers of Asia to gain skills and experience. This arrangement will strengthen the future of women's cricket in Asia. We are proud to take such a far-reaching decision for women.
The ACC started thinking about the Asia Cup after successfully holding the Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup for the first time last year. The Women's Under-19 T20 Asia Cup will be held for the first time in December this year. However, the venue and how many teams will participate in it, has not been finalized yet.
The second edition of Women's U-19 T20 World Cup will be held in January 2025.
